WS500 an WS500 Pro Firmware v2.6.1 Now Available

The latest Wakespeed release builds on continuous feedback from the Wakespeed community, introducing new capabilities, performance enhancements, and improved system integration across WS500 and WS500-PRO devices.

The WS500 and WS500-PRO are part of the Wakespeed line of advanced alternator regulators developed by Dragonfly Energy, a leader in lithium battery technology and power management systems.

WS500/WS500Pro Firmware 2.6.1 Key Highlights

Improved Stator-Based RPM Sensing
RPM tracking now responds more precisely to changes in engine speed, particularly during rapid RPM reductions—delivering smoother, more accurate regulation.

Enhanced Support for Multiple Victron Lynx BMS
Improved data aggregation across the same DC bus adds redundancy, maintaining system operation even if a BMS goes offline.

Bluetooth Lockout Mode (WS500-PRO only)
Adds the ability to disable Bluetooth configuration access while allowing USB-based setup—ideal for installations requiring controlled access.

NMEA 2000 Alternator Current Sensing (WS500-PRO only)
Introduces CAN-based alternator current sensing, simplifying wiring and in many cases, eliminating the need for analog shunts.

Internet Gateway Support
Now compatible with PredictWind DataHub and other Internet Gateway devices, enabling remote monitoring and configuration of WS500 and WS500-PRO systems from anywhere in the world.

Bug Fixes – Addressed issues including:

  • Expanded compatibility with 11-bit CAN BMS systems (REC, SMA, etc.)
  • Regulator release from locked condition via $MSR
  • Improved synchronization across multiple regulators

The latest Firmware v2.6.1 is accessible through the WS500 Advanced Alternator Regulator product information or can be downloaded below.

Updated Version 1.11 of the Wakespeed Configuration and Monitoring Utility App Now Available

In-App Fault Diagnostics

The Wakespeed App now includes in-app fault diagnostics for easier troubleshooting. By pressing the alarm icon next to a fault, you’ll see a summary of the issue, possible causes, and suggested next steps—streamlining troubleshooting for Wakespeed installations.

Worldwide Internet Access

The updated Wakespeed App now supports Internet Gateway devices, enabling remote access to both WS500 and WS500-PRO systems.

Through a new collaboration between Wakespeed and PredictWind, the updated Wakespeed App now enables full remote access to WS500 and WS500-PRO systems. Integration with the PredictWind DataHub allows users to:

  • Authorize remote monitoring (read-only) or full read/write access
  • Log data and configure devices from anywhere
  • Use onboard WiFi for extended local access (ideal for larger vessels and coaches)
  • Extend wireless access to legacy WS500 devices via WiFi

Note: Over-the-air firmware updates are not currently supported via Wi-Fi. Updates can still be completed wirelessly via Bluetooth on the WS500-PRO, or through a physical USB connection on the WS500.
